FAQs
Who can participate in your tours?
Are there any health restrictions?
Do I need previous dog sledding experience?
What should I wear and bring for winter tours?
In winter, plan to dress as if you’ll be outside in the snow for an extended time. We recommend:
- A warm winter jacket that is water/weather resistant
- Snow pants
- Insulated winter boots with thick wool or synthetic socks
- Please avoid Uggs and cotton socks—they won’t keep your feet warm when wet
- Winter gloves or mittens that are water/weather resistant
- Goggles and/or sunglasses
- A scarf or face mask
- A warm hat
- Extra non-cotton layers (pullovers, long johns, etc.)
- “Yak Traks” or other boot grips can also be very helpful on icy days.
Do I need a headlamp or flashlight?
Is gratuity included, or should I tip my guide?
What should I wear and bring during the warmer months?
In the warmer months, we recommend:
- Closed-toed shoes (required): old sneakers, hiking shoes, or rain/mud boots
- Flip-flops, Crocs, and sandals are not permitted
- Long pants (the sled dogs love to jump up and say hi!)
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- A poncho or rain jacket on wet/rainy days
- A sweatshirt or light jacket in case you get chilly
Do tours run in bad weather?
Do you have an indoor space or changing area?
Are the tours and activities hands-on?
Will I get dog hair on my clothes?
Can my child participate if I’m not going on the tour?
Do I need a reservation, or can I just show up?
All of our tours require advance reservations. This helps us schedule guides, match the right dog teams to each group, and plan for the day’s conditions. Walk-ins are not guaranteed a spot and are only possible if we have time and availability. If you do walk in and we’re able to fit you in, payment must be cash, and please note we do not have an ATM on site. We recommend booking ahead to secure your spot.
What happens if there isn’t enough snow for sleds?
Can I take photos or videos during my visit?
What if I’m a little nervous around dogs?
That’s okay. Our activities are designed to be hands-on to your comfort level. You can start by meeting a few calm dogs, keep a bit more distance if you prefer, or simply watch the action from the sidelines while you get used to being in the kennel.
